Why can compression leave an equilibrium mixture unchanged?
A sealed reactor contains the equilibrium A(g) + B(g) ⇌ 2C(g). At constant temperature, increasing the pressure from 1.0 MPa to 4.0 MPa does not change the equilibrium proportion of C. Explain this observation.
