Marking points

  1. 1 Gives a first valid wave-group/risk link from the official alternatives.
  2. 2 Gives a second valid, distinct wave-group/risk link from the official alternatives.

Full-mark answer

Ultraviolet can damage the skin, causing sunburn, premature ageing or skin cancer. X-rays and gamma rays can damage DNA and cause mutations, increasing the risk of cancer.

Why this answer loses marks

They are dangerous and can cause cancer.

A generic cancer statement can earn at most the conditional fallback mark. Full credit needs distinct risks linked to the named high-frequency groups.
