Current I, resistance R and potential difference V equation

Q02.3 1 mark

Use the Physics Equations Sheet to answer questions 02.3 and 02.4.

Write down the equation that links current (I)(I), resistance (R)(R) and potential difference (V)(V).

Write your answer first. You can study the marking guidance whenever you need it.

Marking points

  1. 1 Give the equation V=IRV = IR, or write potential difference = current × resistance.

Full-mark answer

V=IRV = IR

Why this answer loses marks

I=VRI = VR

This multiplies potential difference and resistance instead of dividing/rearranging from V=IRV=IR.
