- 2 Describes one credited server/client use of IMAP.
Full-mark answer
SMTP is used to send email between mail servers. IMAP keeps email on a server and lets a client retrieve, view and manage it across devices.
Why this answer loses marks
SMTP receives messages and IMAP sends them.
The roles are reversed: separate email sending from server-based mailbox retrieval and viewing.
