Full-mark answer
Sand dams in Kenya make water supply more sustainable because they trap water in sand behind a small concrete dam during the rainy season. The stored water is protected from evaporation and can be used in the dry season, making supply more reliable. The scheme is small-scale and uses appropriate technology, so local people can maintain it.
