Marking points

  1. 1 Identifies a relevant difference between the interpretations about Hitler's appeal.
  2. 2 Uses content from Interpretation A.
  3. 3 Uses content from Interpretation B.
  4. 4 Develops the comparison into an explanation of how the interpretations differ.

Full-mark answer

Interpretation B differs because it presents Hitler as having little or no appeal. Bielenberg says Mein Kampf had no appeal and describes the rally music as boring, while her husband dismisses Hitler as a clown. Interpretation A is much more positive: Rudiger describes an electric atmosphere, people waiting for Hitler as if he were a saviour, and she concludes that he only thought of the German people. The difference is therefore that A sees Hitler as inspiring and attractive, while B sees his ideas and performance as unappealing.

Why this answer loses marks

Interpretation A likes Hitler and B does not.

This identifies a basic difference but does not develop how the content of the two interpretations creates that difference.
