Threatening someone else with violence

Q06.1 20 marks

Extract 1 from DNA shows John Tate telling Richard not to use the word 'dead' and threatening to hurt him. Extract 2 from Journey's End shows Stanhope threatening to shoot Hibbert if he tries to leave for the doctor instead of staying in the trenches.

Compare how threatening someone else with violence is presented in these two extracts. You should consider: the situations and experiences faced by the characters; how the characters react to these situations and experiences; how language and dramatic features create effects.
